Route data. Delivery Distance Calculation
The cost, as well as the delivery time of the order, depends on the calculated distance from the company to the client. The route is calculated at the time of placing the order and takes into account the situation on the road at the time when the order was placed.
The map service calculates possible routes on request and selects the fastest one. Most often, the fastest route is the shortest in distance. However, at the moment of the highest traffic activity, a route longer in distance, but the fastest in terms of delivery time, can be chosen, taking into account traffic jams and delays on other, shorter routes.
Since the courier in the application has access to a map with order's route, in rare particular cases there may be some deviation along the route in comparison with the originally calculated one, if the situation on the roads has changed and another route has become faster.
