2.0 How to unblock the Google Ads account
Google can block your Google Ads account for various reasons. When blocked, you will receive a notification in the account interface, as well as a corresponding e-mail.
Common reasons for blocking Google Ads account include:
- Alcohol-related advertising, both for alcohol and drinks that resemble alcohol.
- The presence of products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury.
- Failure to comply with Google Ads format requirements (restrictions on the size of images and files; the number of characters in the ad, etc.).
- Violation of affiliate program rules (same or similar ads in different accounts, for the same or similar search queries; showing several ads simultaneously that advertise the same organization, app, or site).
- The presence of counterfeit goods. Counterfeit goods contain a trademark or logo that is identical to or substantially indistinguishable from the trademark of another.
- Enabling dishonest behavior (hacking software or instructions; services designed to artificially inflate ad or website traffic; fake documents; academic cheating services).
- Data collection and use (inadequate data security; unacceptable information sharing; misusing personal information; unauthorized cookies on Google domains).
- Content manipulation (using forbidden words or misspelled phrases; using invisible Unicode characters; manipulating images or videos to hide content that violates the rules).
- Attempts to bypass the system (showing to certain users, including Google, content that is different from what is available to all other users; attempting to reuse Google Ads after blocking by creating new accounts).
- Violation of destination requirements (a display URL that does not accurately reflect the URL of the landing page; sites or apps that are under construction, parked domains, or are just not working; sites that are not viewable in commonly used browsers, etc.).
- Violation of trade sanctions (it is forbidden to use Google Ads on behalf of individuals and organizations located in countries or regions under the sanctioning control).
- Misrepresentation (ads or destinations that deceive users by excluding relevant product information or providing misleading information about products, services, or businesses.).
- Posting information that could harm the safety and comfort of users (gambling and games, sexual content, etc.).
Unlocking the block
- Make sure your account does not violate the Google Ads Terms or Conditions. For more information, see here.
Important: Be careful not to skip this step. Remember that conditions are constantly changing, and you might not know about the changes.
- Submit an appeal. To do this, follow the instruction and use the form. Please carefully check the information you provide. Inaccurate data reduces the likelihood of a positive decision. You need a good reason to reactivate your account. Therefore, try to provide detailed, truthful, and accurate information.
A specialist usually responds within 5 business days (sometimes it may take longer).
If you received an answer to your appeal and think there was a mistake, you can report it in the response letter, providing additional information that may help the investigation.
Important: Do not create any other accounts until Google contacts you, as they will also be blocked.
